Our School Room

Kris, at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers posted some pictures of her schoolroom yesterday, so I thought it'd be fun to do that too.

Our schoolroom used to share space with the family room, but I've since moved it to it's own spot. Here's the new room:

It's now located in what is supposed to be the master suite. It's a nice big spot with two connected rooms. The smaller, connected room is flanked by two nice sized closets where we store supplies and crafts, and my scrapbooking stuff. Here's the playroom:

I love the connected playroom. It helps Matthew stay busy while Lucy and I are working, yet he can still be close to us (which is a must, at age 3!).

I've never understood the purpose of the gigantic master suite, since our bedroom furniture consists of a bed, two dressers, a nightstand and an old trunk. And really, I don't spend much time in there except at night. It's perfect for the schoolroom and playroom. All of the kids stuff is now in one place!

Wow! Your schoolroom and playroom look great! I love the kid-sized computer desk.

I imagine that if we had a place in the main living area of our home that could serve as a schoolroom, we'd still have a dedicated room. It's nice having a central location for all your stuff and a place where you can leave things spread out when needed.

I can so remember, from when my youngest two were toddlers, how nice it is to have a place where they can play without having to worry that they might get hurt or get into something that they shouldn't.

Love the pink rosy hue here in your rooms. This peek into the school rooms is so fun! Come on over and take a peek at mine!

Oh, this is just the sort of place I would want if I could get it! A spot for littles and bigs to live in separated but reasonable harmony. Officially jealous here!

Have a great year!

I'm a firm believer in separate, but equal homeschool spaces for older kids and younger kids! Sometimes the best solution for harmony is to divide and conquer, if you know what I mean! Your learning and play spaces look great!

I agree!! What's the point of a large master bedroom? Who on earth spends that much time in there? I supposed if you didn't have kids you might, but most are in a three or four bedroom house and then you generally have kids!
Have a wonderful and blessed year!
Love your school room/playroom!

Great room! Excellent use of space. I agree...unless you really hang in the bedroom a lot, there is no reason for a huge master bedroom. Also great to have the playroom "attached". My son used to play and answer his sister's math questions (they are just two years apart). It drove her nuts, but I was secretly glad he was listening while he played.
